Flood Warning

The Flood Warning continues for
the Mississippi River at Memphis
* from Thursday March 01 until Wednesday March 14.
* At 12 PM Sunday the stage was 29.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Maximum forecast stage of 36.5 feet on Tuesday March 6.
* Flood stage is 34.0 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by Thursday March 1 and
continue to rise to near 36.5 feet by Tuesday March 6.The river
will fall below flood stage by Wednesday March 14.
* At 37.0 feet... in Arkansas, the grain terminal and other businesses
by it south of West Memphis are being covered by water. At Memphis,
the fuel facility south of the river gage is flooding.

... Preliminary NWS damage survey results for northeast Arkansas
and the Missouri bootheel...

Preliminary damage survey results indicate that storms from
Saturday night, February 24th, produced a tornado with up to EF2
damage or estimated winds up to 115 mph.

The tornado began just southwest of Knobel, Arkansas traveling
intermittently into the Missouri bootheel ending at Malden,
Missouri.

The tornado killed one person just east of the town of Knobel
with several others injured, especially in Malden where the
strongest damage of EF2 was noted. Most damage along this path
was EF1 (around 95 mph) or less.

A number of homes received major damage, primarily in Malden.

This information is preliminary. More detailed start and ending
times and points will be available by mid-week.

... Preliminary NWS damage survey results for northeast Arkansas
and the Missouri bootheel...

Preliminary damage survey results indicate that storms from
Saturday night, February 24th, produced a tornado with up to EF2
damage or estimated winds up to 115 mph.

The tornado began just southwest of Knobel, Arkansas traveling
intermittently into the Missouri bootheel ending at Malden,
Missouri.

The tornado killed one person just east of the town of Knobel
with several others injured, especially in Malden where the
strongest damage of EF2 was noted. Most damage along this path
was EF1 (around 95 mph) or less.

... NWS damage survey plan of action for today...

Event date 02/24/18

The National Weather Service in Memphis is planning on
investigating numerous reports of damage across northeast
Arkansas, the Missouri bootheel, and northwest Tennessee beginning
today 2/25/2018. We suspect some of this damage was caused by
tornadoes. We plan on utilizing multiple survey crews. However,
due to the expansive area of damage, it may still take two days or
longer to complete the surveys and determine the strength of any
potential tornadoes.

Specifically, our areas of focus include:

Clay County, AR and Dunklin County, MO between Knobel and Malden.
Mississippi County, AR between Keiser and Osceola.
Obion County, TN west of Union City to near Woodland Mills, TN
Obion County, TN between Union City and South Fulton,TN
Weakley County, TN northeast of Martin.
Gibson County, TN near Trenton.
Madison County, TN approximately 5 miles northeast of Jackson.
Weakley and Henry County, TN from Dresden to northeast of Paris.

the latest on our findings.
