... Blizzard Warning remains in effect until midnight MST tonight
above 8000 feet...
... Winter Weather Advisory has expired...

* timing... periods of snow will continue this evening.

* Snow accumulation... 1 to 3 inches additional accumulations.

* Winds... northwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph... and
gusts up to 80 mph above 9000 feet.

* Impacts... blowing and drifting snow will create whiteout
conditions at times. The combination of snow... blowing snow
and fog will limit visibility below 1/4 mile at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions... making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If
you must travel... have a winter survival kit with you. If you get
stranded... stay with your vehicle.

            Light snow has gone on all day and was continuing at
            the time of the call. 0.2 was recorded at 0700 so the
            majority of the snowfall has come today.



Public Information Statement

Statement as of 7:05 PM MST on December 22, 2014


A strong winter storm impacting eastern Utah and western Colorado,
has generated significant snow over the mountains of the region.
Snow began falling over the mountains on Sunday, intensifying Sunday
night and continuing through the day Monday.

The following are reports of storm total mountain snowfall as of 5
PM Monday, as estimated using readings from remote sensors scattered
through the mountains of the region. All sensors are located at
elevations above 8200 feet.

Over the northwest Colorado mountains:
    15 to 35 inches, with greater than 40 inches at The Dry Lake site.

Over the central Colorado mountains:
10 to 25 inches, with near 30 inches at Schofield Pass.

Over the southwest Colorado mountains:
3 to 12 inches, with 23 inches at Beartown, and 15 inches at slumgullion.

Over the northeast Utah mountains:
    3 to 5 inches.

Over the east central Utah mountains:
    very little if any snow fell.

Over the southeast Utah mountains:
    up to 5 inches.
