... The Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory remains in effect until
715 PM MDT for northeastern Huerfano and southwestern Pueblo
counties...

At 608 PM MDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms over northern Huerfano County moving into south
central Pueblo County. Generally light rain was also fallen over
southern portions of the advisory area. Doppler radar has estimated
between 1 and 3 inches of rain has fallen across the area over the
past hour... with a weather spotter 10 miles north of Walsenburg
reporting 2 inches of rain. This will cause Arroyo and Small Stream
flooding in the advisory area.

This flooding will remain over mainly rural areas of northeastern
Huerfano and southwestern Pueblo counties.

This includes the following streams and drainages... Butte Creek...

Arroyo... Greenhorn creek... south Apache Creek... walsen Arroyo...

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on
small creeks and streams... and ponding of water in urban areas...
highways... streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage
areas and low lying spots.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... highways and underpasses. Additionally...
country roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks... streams and
other low lying areas are subject to flooding.

645 PM MDT for southwestern Huerfano and northeastern Costilla
counties...

At 545 PM MDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rainfall has moved
away from the advisory area... with some light rain continuing at
this time. Doppler radar has indicated that between 1 and 2 inches
of rain has fallen across the advisory area... which will cause
Arroyo and Small Stream flooding in the advisory area.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
La Veta and La Veta Pass.

This includes the following streams and drainages... Oak Creek... north
Middle Creek... Cherry Creek... Sangre de Cristo creek... chavez

* portions of east central Colorado... south central Colorado and
southeast Colorado... including the following areas... El Paso and
Teller counties and the Rampart Range... the eastern San Juan
Mountains... Fremont County... La Garita Mountains... the Sangre de
Cristo Mountains... upper Rio Grande Valley... Wet Mountain Valley
and Wet Mountains... Baca County... Bent County... Crowley
County... Las Animas County... Huerfano County... Otero
County... and Pueblo County.

* Until midnight MDT tonight

* monsoon moisture and moist easterly upslope flow will trigger
slow moving thunderstorms through this evening. Rainfall rates
of up to 2 inches per hour will be possible with the stronger
storms... which may quickly lead to flash flooding.

* Flooding of urban areas... creeks... arroyos and normally dry
washes will be possible this afternoon and evening. Heavy
rainfall on burn scars may result in dangerous mud and ash
flows.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
