... Flood Warning extended until further notice...
the Flood Warning continues for the Apalachicola River near
Blountstown.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 8:15 PM Thursday the stage was 17.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 18.2 feet by
Sunday morning. Additional rises may be possible thereafter.
* Impact... at 19.0 feet... minor lowland flooding will occur at Douglas
Landing and Willis Landing campgrounds. The 19.0 ft level at
Blountstown may at times not be representative of river levels in
these areas due to tidal effects... winds... or local rainfall and
should be used with caution.

Saturday...
... High rip current risk remains in effect through this evening...

* location... Panhandle and Big Bend beaches.

* Surf... increasing to 3 to 5 feet today along the Panhandle
beaches with a few spots to 6 feet along Walton County. Big
Bend beaches... 3 to 5 feet today.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore. If you become caught in a rip current remain calm and
swim parallel to shore. Once you are away from the force of the
rip current... swim back to the beach. Do not attempt to swim
directly against a rip current. Even a strong swimmer can become
exhausted quickly.

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area... producing rip currents and localized beach
erosion.

are already near or at flood stage. Flash flooding is also
possible... mainly in urban areas... and near
creeks... streams... and drainage areas prone to fast rising water
during heavy rain.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood or flash flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to
flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding
develop. Please do not driver through flood areas.
