The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Benton County in central Missouri...
Camden County in central Missouri...
northeastern Hickory County in central Missouri...
northeastern St. Clair County in west central Missouri...

* until 100 PM CDT Wednesday.

* At 644 am CDT... thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall continue to
move across the warned area. Between two and five inches of rain
has already fallen across this region... with flash flooding
reported in many locations... especially across Benton County.
Additional rain is expected this morning as more thunderstorms
move through the area.

* Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause flash flooding to
occur. Locations in the warning include... Camdenton... Cole Camp...
Ha Ha Tonka State Park... Lake of The Ozarks State Park... Lincoln...
Lowry City... Macks Creek... Truman State Park and Warsaw. Creeks...
streams and low water crossings will be especially susceptible to
the dangers of flash flooding.

This warning includes but is not limited to the following low water
crossings...

Route h... 3 miles northwest of Stoutland...
Route dd at Knobby creek 6 miles northeast of Edwards...
Route ww at Archer creek northeast of Lakeview Heights...
Route b at Williams Creek southeast of Cole Camp.

This Flash Flood Warning replaces the Flash Flood Warning that was
previously in effect for Benton County.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property. Do not attempt to cross
swiftly flowing waters or waters of unknown depth by foot or by
automobile.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Missouri... south central Missouri and
southwest Missouri... including the following areas... in
central Missouri... Benton... Camden... Hickory... Maries...
Miller... Morgan... Phelps... Pulaski and St. Clair. In south
central Missouri... Dent... Howell... Oregon... Shannon and
Texas. In southwest Missouri... Dallas... Douglas... Laclede...
Polk... Webster and Wright.

* Through Thursday morning

* periods of showers and thunderstorms are forecast to move
through central Missouri from early this morning through
early Thursday morning. Rainfall amounts of two to four
inches are expected... with locally higher amounts over five
inches possible. The threat for flash flooding will
increase... especially over locations that experience
multiple rounds of thunderstorms.

* Remember to never drive through water covered roadways.
Additionally... be especially cautious at night as flooding
dangers are much more difficult to identify.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
