* until 545 PM CDT Saturday.

* At 923 am CDT, local law enforcement officials and emergency
management officials report that flash flooding is occurring due
to heavy rainfall. Most creeks and streams are flooded and a
number of roads are closed. Some evacuations were being reported
in Ellington due to flash flooding on local creeks. Rainfall
amounts thus far have been anywhere from 3 to 5 inches.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Farmington, Sullivan, Bonne Terre, Desloge, Ste. Genevieve,
Fredericktown, Cuba, Potosi, Steelville, Bourbon, Bismarck,

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.
