The National Weather Service in Elko has issued a

* small stream Flood Advisory for...
east central Humboldt County in northwest Nevada...
this includes the city of Paradise Valley...

* until 1015 PM PDT

* at 709 PM PDT Doppler radar indicated a slow moving storm over the
Santa Rosa Mountains just north of the city of Paradise Valley in
northeastern Humboldt County. This storm has been producing very
heavy rainfall. Runoff from this heavy thunderstorm may make its way
into dry washes and small streams in or near the city of Paradise
Valley.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of
swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.

* at 657 PM PDT National Weather Service Doppler radar estimated
rainfall greater than 1 inch in several areas of northwestern
Humboldt County... with thunderstorms continuing to develop.
Rainfall this great can cause minor flooding of dry washes and
streams.

* at 628 PM PDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
strong thunderstorm in northeastern Humboldt County... approximately
25 miles northeast of Paradise Valley. This storm is producing heavy
rain. Localized flooding in dry washes and streams is possible into
this evening.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across

At 658 PM PDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar was tracking a
line of strong thunderstorms in extreme northwestern Humboldt
County. These storms will bring gusty winds to 50 mph... along with
periods of moderate to heavy rain. These storms are moving northeast
at 15 mph.

The average temperature at Winnemucca Airport during July 2014 was
77.5 degrees. This is the warmest average temperature ever recorded
during the month of July... or any calendar month. The previous
record warmest calendar month was July 1931... when the average
temperature was 77.2 degrees.

Records at Winnemucca date back to 1877.

... July 2014 climatological summary for northeastern and central
Nevada...

As with many months before it... July 2014 was dominated by a
strong ridge of high pressure. This ridge was so strong that it
brought record or near record warmth across the entire region. It
also was accompanied by multiple strong monsoon moisture surges
which resulted in above normal precipitation in parts of the
area... though some areas missed out on the typically hit-and-miss
convective precipitation and ended up below normal.

The tables below summarize the weather at four of our Airport
climate sites during the month. Temperatures are in degrees
fahrenheit... while precipitation is in inches.
