The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Johnson County in north central Texas...

* until 615 PM CDT

* at 316 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
very heavy rain now entering western Johnson County. The storms
are moving northeast at 10 mph and were producing rainfall rates
of 3 inches per hour or higher. This rainfall will lead to
excessive water runoff and cause flash flooding. Low-lying areas
are most vulnerable to rapidly rising water. Some low-water
crossings may flood and become impassable.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Burleson... Cleburne... Keene... Joshua... Godley... Cross Timber... Cleburne
State Park... Rio Vista and Briaroaks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... country roads... farmland... and other low lying
spots.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of north central Texas and south central Texas...
including the following areas... in north central Texas...
Bell... Bosque... Collin... Comanche... Cooke... Coryell... Dallas...
Denton... Eastland... Ellis... Erath... falls... Grayson...
Hamilton... Hill... Hood... Jack... Johnson... Lampasas...
McLennan... Mills... Montague... Palo Pinto... Parker... Rockwall...
Somervell... Stephens... Tarrant... wise and Young. In south
central Texas... Milam.

* Through Thursday morning

* several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected across
north and central Texas through much of the week. Many areas
have already received 2 to 3 inches of rain today. Conditions
will be tropical-like with thunderstorms producing very heavy
rainfall in short periods of time. Many areas have already
received heavy rainfall over the last week and additional
rainfall is likely to cause flooding.

* Amounts... widespread rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches can be
expected through Friday. Isolated heavier amounts in excess of 6 inches
will be possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for heavy
rain which may lead to flash flooding. You should monitor the
latest forecasts from the National Weather Service and be
prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued for
your area.
