Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch

Statement as of 5:56 AM CDT on May 30, 2016

Expires 2:00 PM EDT on May 30, 2016

The National Weather Service in Austin San Antonio has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Gillespie County in south central Texas...
Blanco County in south central Texas...
Kerr County in south central Texas...
Kendall County in south central Texas...
Bandera County in south central Texas...
Real County in south central Texas...

* until 1000 am CDT

* at 552 am CDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to a line
of thunderstorms moving through The Hill Country. This will cause
Urban and Small Stream flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Medina... Kerrville... Fredericksburg... Boerne... Comfort... blanco...
Bandera... Leakey... Round Mountain... Vanderpool... Tarpley... Hunt... Fair
Oaks Ranch... Ingram... Johnson City... Stonewall... Camp Wood... Kerr
Wildlife Management Area... Sandy and Flugrath.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... urban areas... highways... streets... and
underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots. In
rural areas... country roads... farmland... and other low lying spots
will become flooded and hard to recognize in low light conditions.

Area rivers and streams remain swollen from earlier rains... so this
additional rain could create rapid new rises and flood area roadways
quickly. Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 1 PM CDT this
afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of south central Texas... including the following
areas... Bandera... blanco... Edwards... Gillespie... Kendall...
Kerr... Kinney... Medina... real... Uvalde and Val Verde.

* Until 1 PM CDT this afternoon

* rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches with isolated amounts up to
5 inches leading to new or continued river and flash flooding.

* Rivers and creeks are swollen and any additional rainfall will
worsen the conditions. Soils are extremely saturated and any
additional rains will likely result in rapid run off and
accumulation of flood waters.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
