The National Weather Service in Austin San Antonio has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
northwestern Bastrop County in south central Texas...
north central Caldwell County in south central Texas...
Hays County in south central Texas...
southern Travis County in south central Texas...

* until 515 am CDT

* at 218 am CDT... National Weather Service meteorologists have
determined that thunderstorm are producing very heavy rain and
flash flooding over the parts of Bastrop... Caldwell... Hays and
Travis County. Very heavy rainfall rates of 2 to 4 inches per
hour are falling and will likely produce 2 to 5 inch rainfall
totals over much of the warned area by 330 am CDT.

* Locations in the warning include but are not limited to Elgin...
Wimberley... Dripping Springs... Austin Bergstrom international
Airport... Tanglewood Forest... Henly and Manor.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flash flooding is observed act quickly. Move
up to higher ground to escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas
subject to flooding when water begins rising.

... A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 515 am CDT for
northeastern blanco... south central Burnet... central Travis and
northwestern Hays counties...

At 159 am CDT... a thunderstorm producing very heavy rain was reported
over the warned area. NWS meteorologists continued to detect slow
moving thunderstorms producing very heavy rains and flash flooding
over the warned area. At 147 am CDT... Bull Creek reported a stage of
6.03 feet. The creek is likely to continue rising to near 10 feet
before subsiding. Numerous heavy rainfall amounts of 3 to 4 inches
in an hours time have been reported from the southern part of Lake
Travis to the western part of Austin near Bull Creek. The heavy
rainfall rates will continue to shift south into south Austin toward
Pedernales Falls State Park and Tanglewood Forest through 3 am CDT.

Locations in the warning include but are not limited to
Smithwick... Cypress Mill and Spicewood.
