The National Weather Service in Austin San Antonio has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Bexar County...

* until 330 PM CDT.

* At 1227 PM CDT... National Weather Service meteorologists have
assessed that widespread and life threatening flooding will
continue across the San Antonio Metro area early this afternoon.
Recent Doppler radar estimates suggest that an additional 1/2
to 1 inch of rainfall is possible through 2 PM CDT. This rain
will combine with earlier rains of up to 15 inches to produce
additional flash flooding. Dozens of high water rescues and
flooded homes have already been reported... and some of the
larger streams in Bexar County may continue to rise... or remain
at extraordinary or near record levels.

This is a flash flood emergency for the city of San Antonio. This
is a life threatening situation.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... San
Antonio... Alamo Heights... China Grove... Cross Mountain...
Elmendorf... Helotes... Hollywood Park... Kirby... Lackland AFB... Leon
Springs... Leon Valley... Live Oak... Olmos Park... sea world... Shavano
Park... Somerset... Terrell Hills... the dominion... timberwood park
and Windcrest.

The National Weather Service in Austin San Antonio has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
eastern Atascosa County...
eastern Bexar County...
western Caldwell County...
Comal County...
extreme west central DeWitt County...
western Gonzales County...
Guadalupe County...
Hays County...
Karnes County...
south central Travis County...
Wilson County...

* until 300 PM CDT.

* At 1145 am CDT... National Weather Service meteorologists have
determined that rainfall estimates from Doppler radar indicate slow
moving thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall across the warned
area. Numerous clusters of showers and thunderstorms containing
very heavy rainfall continue from eastern Atascosa and Karnes
counties northward along the I-35 corridor over eastern Bexar and
Guadalupe counties. This activity will continue slowly northward
and given current radar estimates in the heavier clusters... an
additional 2 to 4 inches of rainfall are possible over the
warned area through the early afternoon hours. Numerous roads
throughout the warned area are already closed.
Secondary roads... low water crossings and bridges are expected
to flood across the warned area during the next few
hours. Motorists should not enter low water crossings as 80
percent of flood fatalities occur this way.

* Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause flash flooding to
occur. Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Campbellton... Canyon Lake dam... Dripping Springs... Floresville...
Jourdanton... Karnes City... Kenedy... Kosciusko... Lockhart...
Luling... New Braunfels... Pleasanton... Poth... San Marcos... Seguin...
Stockdale... Universal City... Wimberley... Buda... Bulverde...
Calaveras Lake... Cestohowa... Cibolo... Driftwood... Elmendorf... Falls
City... Fentress... Fischer... Garden Ridge and Geronimo.

the Flood Warning continues for the Leon creek at ih-35.
* At 11:16 am Saturday the stage was 23.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river level will continue rising to around 27 feet by late
Saturday afternoon... then is expected to begin falling by late Saturday or
early Sunday.
* Impact... at 22.0 feet... many people must be evacuated from homes near Laredo
Highway (81) and many homes flood. Three feet of water are in the jet engine
test facility at Kelly AFB. Most secondary and primary roads and low bridges
near Leon creek are flooded with several feet of water. Mobile homes at
Camargo park near the San Antonio missions Ball Park are severely flooded.

* Flood Warning for the San Antonio River near Elmendorf.
* From this evening to Monday morning... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 8:30 am Saturday the stage was 15.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 35.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river level will rise to crest around 42 feet Sunday morning.
* Impact... at 43.0 feet... moderate lowland flooding inundates and damages crop
and pastureland below San Antonio to below Floresville. Numerous roads and
bridges are flooded. Oil well pump jacks and irrigation pumps are flooded and
damaged.

* Flood Warning for the Salado creek at loop 13.
* From this afternoon to Sunday morning... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 9:15 am Saturday the stage was 8.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the creek level will rise to crest around 20 feet Saturday evening.
* Impact... at 18.0 feet... minor lowland flooding reaches numerous access and
secondary roads and low bridges.

the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued a

* Flood Warning for the Medina River at US 281.
* From this evening to late Sunday night... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 9:15 am Saturday the stage was 5.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river level will rise to crest around 27 feet by Sunday morning
around sunrise.
* Impact... at 28.0 feet... major flooding puts the FM 1937 bridge floor under
eight feet of water. Flow approaches homes downstream near Losoya. Livestock
are cut off and potentiallly drowned in the flood plain.

DeWitt County...
northern Karnes County...
southeastern Bexar County...
southern Guadalupe County...
southwestern Gonzales County...
Wilson County...

* until 100 PM CDT

* at 1055 am CDT... National Weather Service meteorologists have
detected thunderstorms with heavy rainfall across the advisory
area... which includes Elmendorf... Converse... and Nixon... extending
southeast to Kenedy and Cuero. Doppler radar estimates suggest
that between 1 and 2 inches of rain has fallen across this area.
Additional showers and thunderstorms... with occasional heavy
rainfall rates over 3 inches per hour could continue to create
run-off... so a Flash Flood Warning may be needed. A Flash Flood
Watch remains in effect for the advisory area through 6 PM.

* Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause minor flooding to
occur... especially along small streams and near low water
crossings.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.

Texas... Atascosa... Bastrop... Bexar... blanco... Burnet...
Caldwell... Comal... DeWitt... Fayette... Gillespie... Gonzales...
Guadalupe... Hays... Karnes... Kendall... Lavaca... Lee... Llano...
Travis... Williamson and Wilson.

* Until 6 PM CDT this evening

* expected heavy downpours of 2 to 5 inches today.

* Due to saturated soils... any heavy downpours that develop will
quickly produce runoff and a flash flood threat. River rises
have already occurred in some locations and will be prone to
additional rapid rises.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means flash flooding is possible in or near
the watch area. If you are in the watch area... plan now for what
you will do if flash flooding develops. Stay informed and be
ready to act if you see flooding or if a Flash Flood Warning is
issued.

... Record daily and all-time may daily rainfall set at San Antonio...

As of 750 am... San Antonio International Airport has recorded 7.11
inches of rain. In addition to breaking the record rainfall for may
25th of 1.66 inches set in 1933... it also breaks the record all-time
daily record for the month of may which was 6.82 set on may
31... 1937. It continues to rain and the total will likely be much
higher.

It is now the 3rd wettest day of all-time at San Antonio.
