... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 am PDT
Thursday above 5000 feet for the South Washington and north Oregon
Cascades...

A Winter Weather Advisory above 5000 feet for snow remains in
effect until 6 am PDT Thursday.

* Timing... through tonight.

* Accumulation... from 4 to 9 inches of additional snow is expected
for the South Washington Cascades and the north Oregon Cascades
especially north of Mount Jefferson tonight.

* Snow levels... rising to 5000 feet tonight... thus rising above
pass elevations overnight tonight but still snowing at ski
resort elevations.

* Impacts... drivers should be prepared for icy or snow covered
roads and winter like driving conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

apply to highways or operating ski areas.

Mt Rainier south and the Mt Hood area Wednesday night and Thursday
morning...

Further heavy snow and then potential rain should be seen in the Mt
Rainier to Mt Hood area Wednesday night and Thursday morning. This
is very likely to cause wet loose... storm slab and wind slab
avalanche conditions in this area. An avalanche warning is issued
for the Mt Rainier to Mt Hood area for Wednesday night and Thursday
morning. Back country travel in avalanche terrain is this area is
not recommended Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Significant snow and avalanche conditions are also expected in other
areas but that are slightly less than warning criteria. Avalanches
are also likely in these other areas as well.

Backcountry travelers should be aware that elevation and geographic
distinctions are approximate and that a transition zone between
