... Flood Advisory remains in effect for eastern Washakie County until
1000 PM MDT...

At 631 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
widespread rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches with locally 4 inches
of rain had fallen from thunderstorms between 2 PM and 4 PM south of
big trails with the heaviest amounts along Box Elder creek. An
additional 0.25 to 0.50 of an inch of rain is possible across the
area through 9 PM.

Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause minor flooding to
occur. Some locations that will experience flooding include... .rural
areas south of big trails... big trails... locations along the nowood
river between big trails and Ten Sleep.


This includes the following streams and drainages... nowood
river... Box Elder creek... Buffalo Creek... South Fork Little Canyon
creek... Lost Creek... North Fork Little Canyon creek... North Fork
Little Canyon creek... Middle Fork Little Canyon creek.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Additional rainfall amounts of one-quarter to one-half inch are
possible in the advisory area.

In hilly terrain... there are hundreds of low water crossings which
are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel
across flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It only takes a few
inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.

Report flooding to the nearest law enforcement agency so that they
may take appropriate action to close flooded roadways. They will
relay your report to the National Weather Service in Riverton.

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect through Sunday afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* a portion of north central Wyoming... including the following
areas... Bighorn Mountains southeast... northeast Johnson County
and southeast Johnson County.

* Through Sunday afternoon

* saturated to near saturated soils from recent rainfall will
combine with areas of potential heavy rain across Johnson
County this evening through 6 PM MDT on Sunday. The threat of
flash flooding will be along small streams and irrigation
canals in and near the foothills of the Bighorn Mountains. A
strong Spring storm will produce conditions favorable for
prolonged heavy rain with rainfall rates of a half inch to an
inch an hour with total rainfall of 2 to 4 inches possible.

* Flooding of roads at night pose a significant threat to
motorists. Do not attempt to drive through flood waters as the
Road may be washed out. Turn around... do not drown.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
