Winter Storm Watch

... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Thursday afternoon through
Saturday morning...

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Winter
Storm Watch... which is in effect from Thursday afternoon through
Saturday morning.

* Timing... snow will likely begin by late Thursday afternoon.
Snowfall will become heavy at times Thursday night and will
likely continue through Saturday morning. There will likely be
one final burst of snowfall around mid day Saturday. Snowfall
will decrease to snow showers Saturday afternoon.

* Total snowfall... 5 inches possible around Kemmerer and 9 inches
possible around Cokeville.

* Wind and visibility... west winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts to
40 mph will result in blowing and drifting snow along with
lowered visibility down to one quarter of a mile at times.

* Impacts... roads may become slick and snow packed with limited
visibility at times. People planning outdoor activities should
be prepared for adverse winter weather conditions and take the
proper precautions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow and/or blowing snow that may impact travel. Continue to
monitor the latest forecasts.

Low temperatures tonight will likely range between 10 below and
25 below zero across much of the lower elevations... with isolated
colder spots. Frostbite can occur in around 30 minutes at these
temperatures. The most susceptible parts of the body are the
extremities, such as fingers, toes, or the tip of the nose. If you
go outside, dress in several layers of loose fitting, lightweight,
warm clothing. Please check that your pets have an accessible warm
shelter, and their drinking water is not frozen.
